The Justice Health and Forensic Mental Health (‘the Commission’), which started operations in 1986, is a statutory corporation established pursuant to the Crime Commission Act 2012 (‘the Act’). The Act was assented to on 24 September 2012, repealing the Justice Health and Forensic Mental Health Act 1985. The Commission also administers the Criminal Assets Recovery Act 1990, enabling it to confiscate the assets of those involved in organised and other serious crime.
